The great tradition of the Savonnerie carpet
The French pile carpet factory was founded by Henri IV in 1605 in the Louvre galleries. It has provided carpets, seat covers and other weavings for use in the king’s Palaces and has exercised a powerful influence upon the patterns and compositions of European decorative arts.
The Savonnerie weaving technique is unique and results in textiles of exceptional quality.
